Intumescent Coating Protection

A vital part of a passive fire protection plan is the inclusion of intumescent coatings for steel & timber. These coatings are a critical defense against a fire in a building or industrial structure - they are designed to expand and form an insulating layer when exposed to high temperatures, effectively creating a barrier that slows down the heating of the underlying steel. This barrier allows the steel to maintain its structural integrity for longer potentially giving more time for the safer evacuation of occupants, and possibly resulting in less damage to the building. The thickness of the intumescent coating must meet required standards to ensure its efficacy. Our staff are fully trained to handle and apply intumescent coatings to NZ compliance standards, and we utilise specialised equipment for coating application. Strict quality control measures ensure effective and reliable fire protection.
Both passive fire protection products and intumescent coatings are designed to either be installed or reinstated when required to achieve the required fire rated levels for compliance. We undertake all QA on new and existing builds across all aspects of fire protection.
